How to Tackle Common Speech and Language Challenges at Home

Hey friend,

Happy Thursday =D

In this week's video, I sat down to answer some of the most common questions from our community of parents at Agents of Speech.

From oral motor exercises and potty training to teaching comprehension and analytical thinking, we covered a lot of ground. If you haven't had a chance to watch the full video yet, you can check it out here.

One of the key takeaways from this Q&A session is the importance of targeting specific skills and behaviors in a step-by-step manner. Whether you're working on speech clarity, imitation, or sentence structure, breaking things down into manageable chunks and using rewards strategically can make a huge difference.

For example, if your child struggles with speech clarity, start by identifying the specific sounds they're having trouble with and focus on stimulating those sounds through targeted exercises and activities.

If imitation is challenging, try using rewards to encourage your child to mimic actions, mouth shapes, or funny sounds before moving on to words.

Another powerful tool for promoting language development is storytelling. Using story cards, pictures from your phone, or even simple games like Uno can help your child practice sequencing events, answering "why" questions, and providing context when communicating with others.

Remember, every child is unique, and progress isn't always linear. Celebrate the small victories along the way, and don't be afraid to reach out for support when needed.

Our free courses and community at Agents of Speech are here to help you every step of the way.

Keep up the work,

Ming
